The site of the Sturgis Municipal Airport (TWT) was established in 1941 by the U.S. Army to provide pilot training during World War II. Over the years, the airport has continued to serve the needs of the community that surrounds it.

Located two nautical miles east of the central business district of Sturgis, the Sturgis Municipal Airport is a public use airport which covers an area of 1,307 acres at an elevation of 372 feet above mean sea level and has one asphalt paved runway which measures 5,000 by 150 feet.
