American Legion

The Griggs-Alvey American Legion Post #48 is a patriotic group of military Veterans who have served in the United States military and were honorably discharged. It is open to any veteran with service since December 7, 1941 to the present. The mission statement is: “To enhance the well-being of America’s veterans, their families, our military, and our communities by our devotion to mutual helpfulness” with a motto of “For God and Country.”

The American Legion has adopted four pillars that determine its activities, programs, and services: Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, Children and Youth. Below are examples of such programs or services:

  • Advocate for benefits that Veterans may be eligible for
  • College scholarship
  • Coordinate ‘Virtual Veterans Coffee’ in which Veteran's benefits resource personnel present information to video or audio participants
  • Emergency assistance for transient Veterans
  • Flag Retirement Ceremony with local Cub and Boy Scout Troops
  • Meet with legislators to encourage legislative support for Veterans
  • Memorial Day Program at the gravesite of a local Veteran and placement of flags
  • Military Rites for Veterans
  • Veterans Day programs at schools and County Courthouse

Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) provides the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, which helps young people be Prepared. For Life.

BSA programs are divided by age and activity: Cub Scouting is for boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade, Scouts BSA is open to young men and young women in grades 6 through 12, and co-ed Venturing and Sea Scouting are available for young men and young women ages 14 through 20. The BSA also offers career-oriented co-ed Exploring programs to youth ages 10 through 20.

In Union County, Cub Scout Pack 3072 meets on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. For more information, contact Paul Loxley at (270) 333-9008. Scouts BSA Troop 3072 meets on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Jeramy Lamb at (270) 952-2272. Both groups meet at the First United Methodist Church, 213 South Morgan Street in Morganfield.


Fraternal Order of Eagles

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality. Girl ScoutsGirl Scouts

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Any girl in grades K-12 can join the fun at Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. Kentucky Motorcycle Association

KY Motorcycle Association

The Kentucky Motorcycle Association was formed in 1982 and is a not-for-profit independent group of motorcycle enthusiasts dedicated to protecting the rights of all Kentucky motorcyclists. In addition, members support local communities by organizing charity runs and other events. 

District #14 Chapter includes Union, Henderson, Webster and Crittenden County and meets the second Saturday of each month.


KawanisKiwanis

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to the betterment of children, one child and one community at a time. The Kiwanis Club of Sturgis, one of the very few clubs to have their own facility, meets every Thursday at 6:00 p.m., 715 North Monroe Street.

Knights of Columbus

The Durbin Council Knights of Columbus #1004 is a Catholic Fraternal Organization dedicated to promoting and conducting educational, charitable, religious, and social welfare works. This organization empowers Catholic men to live their faith at home, in their parish, and in their community. Morganfield Lions Club

Morganfield Lions

Members of the Morganfield Lions Club are civic minded volunteers who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities and raise money for local humanitarian needs. The local chapter meets the first and third Friday of the month at noon, Izzy’s Italian Restaurant in Morganfield.


Retired Teachers Association

The Union County Retired Teachers Association is the local branch of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association with a mission to protect retirees' pensions and health insurance. The local branch is very active in civic activities, including Happy Packs, School Supplies, Happy Feet Equals Learning Feet, and thousands of individual volunteer hours. RotaryRotary

The mission of Rotary Club is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through fellowship of business, professional and community leaders. UCWEECAN

UCWEECAN is a 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to help prevent child abuse and neglect in Union County and is a local chapter of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky. UCWEECAN meets monthly at Wellness Counseling Center, 111 South Morgan Street, Morganfield.


Union County Chamber of Commerce

The Union County Chamber of Commerce provides advocacy for members to promote and enhance our community through business, social, cultural and educational programs. The local chapter meets the second Thursday of each month at noon, location varies.


Veterans of Foreign Wars

The Hite-Crooks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5488 is a patriotic group of military Veterans who have served in the United States military in a foreign conflict. The Mission Statement is: “To foster camaraderie among United States Veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our Veterans, the military, and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all Veterans.” The Vision of the VFW is to “Ensure that Veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.” The following are examples of programs or services provided by VFW Post #5488:
