CCDWAs of June 28, 2019, Pursuant to 2019 Senate Bill 150, any person age twenty-one (21) or older, and otherwise able to lawfully possess a firearm, may carry concealed firearms or other concealed deadly weapons without a license in the same locations as persons with a valid Kentucky CCDW license issued under KRS 237.110.

The Kentucky State Police are in charge of issuing a Concealed Carry Permit to carry a Concealed Deadly Weapon. The responsibilities of the Union County Sheriff’s Office include:

  • Take permit applications from Union County residents
  • Verify his/her required training certificate of completion from an instructor
  • Verify payment of necessary fees
  • Take a photograph of the applicant – Note: If you decide to bring in your own photo, it must be a 4 x 3½ or 4 x 5 shoulder shot. A passport photo is acceptable. Applicant may not wear a hat or tinted eyeglasses in the photo.

All information obtained by the Union County Sheriff’s Office is sent to the Kentucky State Police. Permits are issued in approximately 3-5 weeks. The applicant will be notified via mail to pick-up his/her permit at the Union County Sheriff’s Office during normal business hours.

Fees

CCDW Application / Renewal Fee:

  • $40.00 – Kentucky State Police Application/Renewal Fee
    *Payment must be Check or Money Order made payable to Kentucky State Treasurer – any application submitted to KSP without the $40 fee will be returned unprocessed
  • $20.00 – Union County Sheriff's Office Processing Fee
    *Payment can be cash, check or money order made payable to Union County Sheriff's Office

Additional Fees – If Needed:

  • $5.00 – Photo
  • $15.00 – Late Renewal Fee
