Building Code Permits

Building Code Inspection Permits in Union County are required for new construction and alteration of multi-family dwellings, commercial buildings, and/or change of occupancy.

Licensing

The Commonwealth of Kentucky enforces statewide standards for building construction. The Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction in Frankfort certifies/qualifies building inspectors on three levels.

• Level I
• Level II
• Level III

Inspection

Electrical Permits

Electrical Permits are required for all electrical work in Union County.

Homeowners may obtain electrical permits provided it is the place of which they currently reside and are conducting the scope of electrical work.

Electrical contractors may obtain electrical permits provided they hold a Master Electrician license or employ a Master Electrician.
