In accordance with KRS Chapter 100, the Zoning Board of Adjustments is empowered to grant variances, conditional uses, and exceptions to the Zoning Ordinance, addressing special unique situations to issue permits otherwise prohibited by the Ordinance, when principals of justice compel such result.

The Board of Adjustments consists of either three, five, or seven members, all of whom must be citizen members, and not more than two of whom may be citizen members of the Planning Commission.  The mayor is the appointing authority for each respective Cities of Morganfield, Sturgis and Waverly.  The Board only meets if there is a case to be heard.  Appeals to the Board of Adjustments are made through the Union County Planning Commission, 100 West Main Street in Morganfield by completing the Dimensional Variance / Conditional Use Application.
