Moffit Lake Recreation Area will celebrate Independence Day with a family fun event on Saturday, July 2nd. Activities include a poker run, golf cart and side-by-side parade, bounce house, cake walk, snow cones, food truck, live music, and fireworks.
Festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. with sign-ups at the boat ramp for the golf cart and side-by-side poker run. Participants are asked to decorate their rides and then parade around the campground, during which judging will take place. There will be five stops along the poker run route, including one at the newly stocked and upgraded Moffit Lake Office and Store where hot dogs, nachos, and drinks will be sold as well as special Moffit Lake 4th of July t-shirts. The run ends at 1:00 p.m. when the top three poker hands will be announced along with the winner of the best decorated ride.
For the kiddos, the obstacle course bounce house will be open all day with the 25 cent cake walk scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. Free fishing for kids all day ($5 for adults).
Polar Paradise snow cones and Smoke-N-Barrel BBQ will open around 2:00 p.m.
The popular band, Vintage, will perform from 6:00-9:00 p.m. with fireworks at dusk.
